The Glass menagerie(유리 동물원) Scene 1- 10

Scene 1으로 일단 마무리하고 다른 작품을 올려본 후에 다시 Scene2부터 시작하려고 합니다. 한 작품을 오래 하니 좀 지루한 탓에요.. 이해바랍니다.

[Tom throws down the paper and jumps up with a groan.] [톰이 종이를 내던지고 신음 소리를 내며 벌떡 일어납니다.]

* groan(불만이나 불찬성을 표시하는 ) 신음소리

LAURA [alone in the dining-room]: I don't believe we're going to receive any, Mother. [식당에 혼자]: 우린 아무것도 못 받을 것 같아요, 어머니.

AMANDA [reappearing, airily ] What? Not one - not one? You must be joking! [다시 등장, 공기처럼 ] 뭐? 한 명도 안 돼요? 농담이겠지!

[LAURA nervously echoes her laugh. She slips in a fugitive manner through the half-open portières and draws them in gently behind her. A shaft of very clear light is thrown on her face against the faded tapestry of the curtains.]

[로라는 긴장한 듯 웃음을 터뜨린다. 그는 반쯤 열린 현관문을 통해 도망자처럼 미끄러져 들어와 그녀의 뒤로 부드럽게 끌어당긴다. 커튼의 빛바랜 태피스트리에 비친 그녀의 얼굴에 아주 맑은 빛 한 줄기가 던져진다.] 

* in a fugitive manner  천재지변 등으로 인한 이유가 아니라는 뜻

Not one gentleman caller? It can't be true ! There must be a flood, there must have been a tornado!

신사 방문객이 한 명도 없나? 그럴 리가 없어! 홍수가 났거나 토네이도가 있었을 거야!

LAURA: It isn't a flood, it's not a tornado, Mother. I'm just not popular like you were in Blue Mountain. ... [Tom utters another groan. LAURA glances at him with a faint, apologetic smile. Her voice catching a little.] Mother's afraid I'm going to be an old maid.

홍수도 아니고 토네이도도 아니에요, 어머니. 난 블루마운틴에서처럼 인기가 없을 뿐이에요. ... [톰이 또 한 번 신음소리를 낸다. 로라는 희미하고 미안한 미소를 지으며 그를 바라본다. 그녀의 목소리가 약간 잡힌다.(목소리가 약해진)] 엄마는 내가 노처녀가   될까 봐 걱정해요.
