I have a Dream (나에게는 꿈이 있습니다) - 7

오늘로 벌써 7회차입니다. 매일 조금씩 올려봅니다. 언젠가 누군가에게 필요한 정보라고 생각하고 있습니다. 연설을 공부하시는 분, 영어연설의 진수를 느끼고 싶으신 분 그리고 영어공부를 하는 학생들에게 좋은 정보가 될 것으로 믿고 있습니다. 아무튼 찾아주신 분들에게 감사드립니다.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day  live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of  their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

나는 나의 네 아이가 언젠가는 그 애들의 피부색에 의해서가 아니라 그 애들의  인격의 내용에 의해 평가받는 나라에서 살게 될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose  governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of  interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a  situation where little black boys and black girls will be able  to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk  together as sisters and brothers. 

I have a dream today.

나는 오늘 꿈이 하나 있습니다. 언젠가는 앨라배마 주(州)가, 주지사의 입술이 연방정부 간섭배제주의와 주내  연방법 실시 거부라는 단어들로 흠뻑 젖어 있는 이 주(州)가, 어린 흑인 소년 소녀들이 어린 백인 소년 소녀들과 손을 잡고 형제자매로서 함께 걸을 수 있는 곳으로 변화될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

나는 오늘 꿈이 하나 있습니다.

★drip with: ~으로 흠뻑 젖다  ★interposition: 연방정부 간섭배제주의 ★nullification: 주(州) 내 연방법 실시 거부  presently 현재,지금 dripping 흠뻑 젖은, 

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted,  every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places  will be made plains, and the crooked places will be made  straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all  flesh shall see it together.

언젠가는 모든 골짜기가 높아지고, 모든 언덕과 산이 낮아지며, 울퉁불퉁한 곳  이 평지가 되고, 굽은 곳이 곧아지며, 하나님의 영광이 드러나 모든 인간이 그것을 함께 목격하게 될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

★exalt [ɪɡˈzɔːlt]: 높이다, 고양시키다. 여기서는 일차적으로 ‘골짜기를 메워 높이다’ 라는  뜻이겠지만 아랫부분에서 보듯이  ‘인종차별을 없애다’ 라는 비유적인 의미가 담겨있다. ★all flesh: 모든 사람  crook 굽은 것,  사기꾼 구부리다.   reveal  드러나다.
